First Day of School

Schools are starting back up this week and that means first day pics will be flooding social media sites.

Lots of cute kiddos in their cute new clothes and sporting enthusiastic cute smiles as if they are excited for the first day!

Rewind 50+ years when my first day of school arrived...no smiles for me. Or my mom. Or my teacher (according to what I was told). It was a traumatic day for all of us. In fact, I have a very faint memory of being placed in a closet until I could get my little 5 yr old self under control - but that's another story for a different day.

First days can be exciting but they can also be very emotional. For everyone. And remember, first days only happen once. You can do this.

Lots of hugs to all you first-timers out there - kids, parents, teachers. It's ok to cry. It's ok to have a time out. (But not in a closet - unless you're the teacher. Or the parent.)

You're going to be ok.
